Why NAMA should be privatised, commercialized , by Joint Action Committee The Joint Action Committee of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called for the commercialisation or privatisation of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), describing the recommendation as both timely and necessary. The Joint Action Committee consist of : Nigerian Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE). Pilots' body cautions on moves to slash NCAA funding The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), has called on the National Assembly to reconsider its proposal seeking to slash funding for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) advising that such action could have adverse consequences on air safety. In a joint statement issued by Comrade Diepreye Stephen Saburugha (Chairman, NCAA Branch) and Comrade Celestine Nkemakolam Chukwu (Secretary, NCAA Branch), the union cautioned that the proposed legislative amendment threatens to drag Nigerian aviation back to its darkest era of catastrophic air crashes. A proposed bill in the upper legislative chambers seeks to alter the revenue-sharing formula of the 5% Ticket Sales Charge and Cargo Sales Charge, drastically reducing the NCAA’s share from 56% to 40%.
