Osubi Airport passenger traffic, aircraft movements soar as revenue improves

 Osubi Airport passenger traffic, aircraft movements soar as revenue improves  A total of 124,000 passengers were processed by the management of the Osubi airport, Warri, Delta state between January and June 2024. Just as 2,051 aircraft movement were recoded during the same period. Mr Winston Egwuatu,  Osubi airport manager who disclosed this at the just concluded Aviation Business Summit and Expo 2024 in Lagos said, passengers traffic has drastically improved since they took over the running of the airport in  March 2021. Revenue generation at the airport between January and June 2024 was N831,374,521.74 comprising aeronautic and non-aeronautic sources . Egwuatu, said revenue collection performance stood at N 731,397,265.0 b etween January and June this year, while total expenditure for the same period stood at N676, 643,455..27.  Air Peace Responds to Arrest of NLC President Air Peace Airline  has expresses deep concern over recent media reports regarding the arrest of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in connection to a petition filed by the airline in September 2023.  In a statement by its spokesperson, Omotade Makinwa, the carrier said :" This development, which has led to negative publicity, does not reflect the current relationship between Air Peace and the NLC. "It is important to clarify the events leading up to the petition. On the 3rd of May, 2023, the NLC disrupted Air Peace operations as part of a broader conflict with the Imo State government. Although Air Peace had no involvement in the dispute between the NLC and the Imo State government, our airline was unfortunately used as a tool to exert pressure on the government.   Why Emirates engaged us for flight handling, by NAHCO .....As carrier begins operation Oct.1 By Kamorudeen Awawu The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), Plc has attributed the quality of its services as one of reasons, the United Arab Emirates carrier , selected it to provide ground and passenger services for its flights into the Lagos Airport. Its  Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Tayo Ajakaye, who disclosed this in a statement said NAHCO secured the deal because of its long standing relationship with the airline. NAHCO Chairman welcomes Emirates Airlines  back to Nigerian Skies ....Airline to resume flight Oct.1 .Fadeni  The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc  (NAHCO) has  secured the bid to provide passenger and cargo ground handling services for Emirates Airlines at Lagos International Airport , as the United Arab Emirates carrier ramp up efforts to  resume flights into the country. Emirates Airlines halted flights into Nigeria in October 2022 because it could repatriate funds accruing from ticket sales held in the country. The carrier will resume flight on October 1, 2024 after a two years hiatus.
