Kano, Port Harcourt Airports ready for certification, says FAAN The Federal Government is ready to complete the certification of Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and the Port Harcourt airport, in an effort to meet the basic requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for world best practices in the aviation sector. President Muhammadu Buhari will not be attending the African Heads of State Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda , where AfCFTA will be signed  March 21, 2018 . The AfCFTA is one of the flagship projects of the African Union Agenda 2063 and is aimed at creating a single continental market for goods and services, with free movement of business persons and investments and one currency. SAHCOL step bumps into Arik aircraft, another grounded in Owerri Arik Air said on Monday that a gangway belonging to Skyways Aviation Handling Company ( SAHCOL) bumped into one of its aircraft - Boeing 737- 700 , resultantly damaging the aircraft at the MMA 2, in Ikeja , Lagos. This aircraft which was scheduled to operate Lagos - Port Harcourt flight had its left side leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer damaged . Disclosing this in a statement in Lagos, Arik Air spokesman, Ola Adebanji said the airline has reported the matter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA).  This , he said is in line with standard operating procedure and the airline’s high safety standards. He said another  aircraft was provided immediately for the Port-Harcourt bound passengers. The airline’s engineers later fixed the damaged aircraft which has since returned to service. NAMA to install Category 111 instrument landing system in Lagos,Abuja airports   The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has revealed plans to embark on aggressive deployment of communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) infrastructure in the next one year to boost air safety. The agency said it has put in place arrangement for the installation of category three Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Lagos and Abuja Airports. Making this disclosure while fielding questions from journalists at a Gateway Forum in Lagos at the weekend, its  Managing Director,  Capt. Fola Akinkuotu said the deployment of the above hi-tech navigational equipment would ensure that aircraft land can land in zero-zero visibility given the adverse weather at certain times within the year.
