Encomiums as FAAN MD, Director of Airport Operations receive prestigious honours

Encomiums are pouring in as the  Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)   celebrates   two of its   Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, and the Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, following the conferment of prestigious professional and traditional honours on them in  recognition of their leadership, service and contributions in their respective fields.

Mrs Kuku was conferred with the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) at its Fellowship Investiture Ceremony held on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Fellowship, the Institute's highest membership distinction, recognises her exceptional career achievements and contributions to banking, financial services and aviation.

With extensive experience spanning the Bank of Montreal, Ernst & Young, Bank PHB and the aviation sector, Mrs Kuku is now entitled to use the professional designation FCIB.

Similarly, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood has been honoured with the distinguished traditional title of Barden Gabas of Mubi Emirate, Adamawa State, under the authority of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, CFR, Emir of Mubi.

The title, historically associated with bravery and valour, recognises Capt. Mahmood's leadership and service while entrusting him with greater responsibility towards promoting peace, unity and development within the Emirate.

These honours reflect the depth of professional expertise, exemplary leadership and commitment to service within FAAN's management, while underscoring the Authority's contributions to national development beyond the aviation sector.

The Management and Staff of FAAN congratulate Mrs Kuku and Capt. Mahmood on these well-deserved recognitions and wish them continued success in their service to the aviation industry and the nation.
