PROTOCOL OFFICERS URGED TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION, PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
The convener of the International Protocol Officers in Nigeria, Mr Fortune Idu, has advised protocol professionals to maintain strong networking channels, share information continuously, and foster seamless collaboration with other internal administrative personnel.
Addressing practitioners at the International Protocol Officers Conference (IPOC) holding at the NIGAV event centre at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja, Idu emphasized the need for protocol officers to recognize that their job responsibilities frequently intersect with other organizational duties.
He urged officers to leverage these operational overlaps as opportunities for constructive discussion, networking, and mutual exchange, rather than allowing them to cause friction, confusion, or workplace territorial disputes.
Turning to aviation operations, Idu highlighted the progress made in training protocol officers to maintain high professional standards within airport environments.
He stated that trained officers are actively distancing themselves from touting practices and are instead advocating against such conduct.
Furthermore, Idu noted that protocol personnel have become key participants in broader industry campaigns aimed at curbing unruly behavior within the aviation system, reinforcing the value and integrity of the profession.
Idu expressed delight that attendance at the Conference which started over a decade ago has gained a lot of recognition with participants all over the country attending.
