ATSSSAN Commends FG, as Ex-Nig Airways Workers Receive Severance Benefits
The National president of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) Comrade John Ogbe has praised president Bola Tinubu for the commencement of last payments to former workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways
Spea in an interview, Comrade Ogbe said the payments were being made in batches and expressed confidence that the process would be completed shortly.
The ATSSSAN boss who expressed gratitude to the minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and president Tinubu, said the ex workers of the airline have suffered untold hardship in the past years while waiting for the final settlement
According Ogbe the outstanding severance benefits will be paid in batches adding that some have started receiving
"And these outstanding payments, severance package payments, have been a long-standing issue. We thank God that when the President came in on board, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he gave a provisional approval I think last year, and today, the money has started rolling in"
According to Ogbe, justice delayed cannot, be denied adding that Nigeria Airways are happy that where they have worked, their money has started coming in.
"From ATSSSAN, we want to commend the President of the nation. We want to commend, uh, Professor Keyamo, who served as a catalyst in the to speed up this payment process. And we also want to commend the office of the Ministry of Finance and the Accountant General of the Federation."
Ogbe said it victory for ATSSSAN as most of the Nigeria Airways staff belonged to the union till today" We still hold EXCO members of Nigeria Airways in ATSSSAN. So, I see it as a fulfillment, I feel fulfilled with the payment of the severance package to workers of Nigeria Airways.
