 ANAP comnends Tinubu, Keyamo for settling ex- Airways workers severance benefits








The President General of the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), Comrade Alale Adedayo, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, for the Federal Government’s commencement of payment of the long-outstanding severance benefits owed former workers of Nigeria Airways Limited.


He described the settlement as a significant milestone for Nigerian aviation and its workforce, saying the payment represents an important step towards justice and closure for the affected former employees and their families.


In a statement issued on behalf of the aviation workforce and organised aviation unions, the ANAP President-General said the resolution of the matter demonstrated the value of leadership that delivers tangible results and restores hope among workers.


The Union Leader said aviation workers and organised labour appreciated efforts that promote development, protect workers’ welfare and strengthen the future of the industry.


Adedayo particularly praised Keyamo for what he described as his commitment, courage and determination in advancing the Nigerian aviation sector.


According to him, the Minister’s role in the resolution of the Nigeria Airways severance payment issue deserved recognition, particularly after the matter remained outstanding for many years.


“The Federal Government’s settlement of the long-outstanding severance payments owed to former Nigeria Airways workers represents a significant step toward justice and closure for the affected employees and their families”. 


The ANAP leader also cited President Tinubu’s popular expression, “Follow person wey know road,” in acknowledging what he described as the administration’s progress in addressing the long-running labour matter.


Adedayo said aviation unions would continue to support genuine initiatives aimed at developing the industry, improving workers’ welfare and creating a stronger future for Nigerian aviation.


He pledged the association’s continued partnership with the Federal Government and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development in initiatives that would benefit aviation workers and the wider industry.


“As aviation unions, we remain committed to supporting and encouraging every genuine initiative that promotes the growth and development of the industry, protects the interests and welfare of aviation workers, and strengthens the future of Nigerian aviation”.


The ANAP President General also prayed for continued wisdom, strength, sound health and protection for the Aviation Minister as he carries out his responsibilities.


“On behalf of the aviation workforce and the organised aviation unions, we express our sincere appreciation and say: Thank you, Sir,” he added.


The association said the development should mark a new chapter for former Nigeria Airways workers who had waited for years for the settlement of their severance benefits.


It expressed optimism that continued collaboration among government, aviation agencies, operators and organised labour would contribute to a stronger, safer and more prosperous Nigerian aviation industry.
