NAHCO conveyor belt vehicle hits Air Peace aircraft's engine at Lagos Airport

 Air Peace  has revealed how a baggage conveyor belt vehicle owned and operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) caused significant damage to one of its Airbus 320 aircraft caused on ground at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 , Lagos ,crashing into the airplane's engine rendering it unserviceable. Air Peace explained that the unfortunate accident occurred , Tuesday July 14, 2026, shortly after the aircraft completed Flight P47427 from Kano and disembarkation of passengers. The airline according to a statement by its management said, the ground accident has occasioned severe disruptions in its flight operations, necessitating mitigating the disruption through fleet adjustments. Highlighting the premium the carrier places on the safety of its passengers, crew and equipment as the highest priority, Air Peace said it is working closely with the relevant ground handling company and aviation authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to prevent a recurrence. The statement reads:" The ground handling equipment belonging to and operated by NAHCO tore into the aircraft and, as such, rendering the aircraft totally unserviceable. "This unfortunate incident has significantly impacted our operations, as the aircraft was rostered to operate multiple flights within our network over the coming days. Consequently, several scheduled services will experience delays, while some may regrettably be cancelled. "We appreciate the patience, understanding, and continued support of our valued customers as we diligently manage the operational challenges arising from this incident. "We sincerely apologise to our esteemed passengers whose travel plans may be affected by this unforeseen ground handling incident. Our operational and customer service teams are actively working to minimise the inconvenience by providing available alternatives and ensuring that affected passengers receive the necessary assistance." NAHCO is yet to officially respond to the development.
