NUATE Condemns Calls For NAMA Privatisation

The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) says, it has completely and unequivocally dissociated itself from calls for the privatization of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) by the  Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) branch

A statement issued by the Deputy General Secretary of NUATE Comrade Odinaka Igbokwe  said it was inauthorized Actions which the national body has never taken a position supporting privatization.

He noted that the branch officer's actions do not reflect our union's constitutional stance and that the Union refuse to be dragged into positions that undermine national security.

"We believe government must further strengthen NAMA financially and structurally, NAMA remains the ultimate bulwark of our strength in Nigerian air safety"

NUATE said Air navigation was a critical, sensitive matter that must never be compromised adding that air navigation control,  the safety of airspace must remain a public priority, not a commercial enterprise.
