....Pushes for industry rebirth

The Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Award Committee  has  concluded plans  to hold the 15th Nigeria Aviation Awards and Ministerial Dinner , scheduled for  April  17, 2026.

According to a statement issued by its coordinator, Mr Fortune Idi, the event is billed to commence   at 2 PM at the NGAV Centre, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to him, in the past 15 years, the NIGAV Award has provided a consistent platform for promoting best practices, industry harmony, healthy competition, and growth within Nigeria's aviation sector.

The annual event, he said will  feature the Aviation Yearly Report, the crowning of the King and Queen of the Air, a charity fundraiser for the aviation community, and awards recognising outstanding performers across all levels of aviation excellence.

Idi said  Nigeria's aviation excellence offers  merit and  recognition as well as  accolades for  achievements in innovation, operations, and leadership, spanning internal industry performance to external contributions that promote a safe, secure, and customer-focused air transport service.

These awards, Idu said  help to boost morale, improve reputation, and set benchmarks for success.

The NIGAV Coordinator said :" This year's theme, Industry Rebirth, reflects renewed hope for the sector as we celebrate notable progress, including the consolidation of aircraft leasing, the anticipated upgrade of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, increased inter-modal connectivity to airports, improved fleet and route services, among others.

" The award results, released after an intensive nomination and voting process, show renewed confidence in the Minister of Aviation and Space Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, who won Special Industry Recognition in the Aviation Leadership Excellence category as an All—Time Champion of Aviation Growth.

"THE BEST AVIATION SUPPORTING GOVERNOR was won by H.E Peter Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State. AVIATION AGENCY CEO OF THE YEAR goes to Captain Chris O. Najomo, DGCA/CEO, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)

" This year, the AVIATION PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD goes to Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and more results are out, and the winning organisation has been duly notified."
