Federal government upgrades Ibadan Airport electrical sub station

The Federal Government has upgraded the Ibadan Airport electrical substation from 11 KVA to  33KVA to boost Power supply to the Airport.
The Ibadan Airport Manager, Ojo Adedeji Afolabi while commissioning the dedicated power line project on behalf of FAAN Managing Director, Kabir Muhammed Yusuf said the upgrading of the Airport electrical substation is a laudable project that would ensure regular power supply to the airport and drastically reduce diesel consumption
He expressed appreciation to FAAN Management for sponsoring the substation project to Ibadan Airport, adding that regular power supply is an essential mechanism for smooth running of airport Operations.
The Airport Manager disclosed that the newly installed substation is capable of supplying 15 hours constant power supply to the airport, he , however appealed to Ibadan Electric Distribution Company (IBEDC) to provide power to the airport during operations hours
Recall  that power was being supplied to the airport through 11KV thereby subjected the Airport to erratic power supply making the airport to depend on diesel powered generator as the main source of power supply
The recent upgrading to 33KV industrial supply, will boost Airport operations capable of supplying power for  duration ranges from 8 to 20 hours daily depending on Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) electrical allocation.
The project was initiated and sponsored by FAAN management comprising :
2.5MVA transformer,  33KV outdoor vacuum circuit breaker, Voltage transformer (VT),  Current transformer (CT),  33KV indoor display and relay board and  110V battery bank.
