 PHIA Set To Implement New Car Park, Access Gate Tariff The management of the Port Hacourt International Airport, says, the recent increase in in tariff on it's car park and access gate will take effect from March 1st , 2026  In an internal memo by the PHIA management to all heads of department dated February 12, 2026, directed that there should be sensitization of the public especially airport users of the new development. According to the memo, with the new tariff, cars  will have to pay N500, SUV/JEEP N1000, Coaster bus N2000 at car park and access gate, while overnight parking will attract N10000. Trailer/ container above 6 tyres will pay N3000 at access gate. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria recently announced increase in tariff across airports in the country. Cars using the access gate with the new charges will pay N500.

  United Nigeria Airlines aircraft suffers strike ....Airline grounds two airplanes  United Nigeria Airlines has announced the grounding of two of its operating aircraft following bird strike on their respective engines just less than 24 -hours from the first incident. The first bird strike on Airbus A320 was recorded at the Port Harcourt Airport while the second incident happened today at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. A statement from the airline on Sunday says grounding the two aircraft for technical inspection will surely inform adjustments in its flight operations,just as it appeals for understanding by the customers. Following an engine incident involving Arik Air’s Boeing 737-700 (registration 5N-MJF) operating Flight W3 740 from Lagos to Port Harcourt, the crew detected a fault mid-flight and executed a precautionary diversion to Benin City. The aircraft landed safely with about 80 souls on board. No injuries. No loss of life. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) promptly announced a formal investigation. That is the kind of news every passenger, every family, and indeed the entire nation, prays for. Even more commendable was the public response. There was no hysteria.   United Nigeria Airlines mulls flight to New York in second quarter  ....To acquire  additional 11 aircraft  United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) said on Thursday it will begin its international operations with the launch of New York flights by the end of the second quarter of 2026. Speaking at a press conference to mark the fifth anniversary of the airline in Lagos, its Chairman, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo said  the airline has ordered 11 aircraft, including two A330-200 and six 737-800 aircraft in preparation for the operations. Okonkwo said one of the aircraft, A330-200 will be delivered to the airline by the end of the second quarter of this year while the others will be delivered later in the year. “We are starting some regional and international routes by the end second quarter of this year, one of the A330-200 will be delivered to us by July 26, the second one will come in by October and by the end of the second  quarter, we will fly direct to New York. ” We pla...
