  NAMA seeks national assembly intervention to end 50% revenue deduction  The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has canvassed for the intervention of the National Assembly to end the 50% revenue deduction and attain financial autonomy. The Managing Director of NAMA, Engr Farouk Umar who made this plea in his opening remarks at the ongoing 4-day retreat of the House Committee on Aviation in Abuja, maintained that “modernizing Nigeria’s aviation sector cannot happen without financial reform.” According to a statement by its Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa, the NAMA boss called for the full enforcement of section 9(2) of the NAMA Act 2022 which stipulates that “all fees and charges imposed by NAMA are not subject to deductions or remittance to any other body.” The NAMA boss stated that the said enforcement had become imperative to enable NAMA maintain critical infrastructure like towers, radars, and communication networks; pay and trai...

  AON lauds  Tinubu , finance minister on suspension of 4% FOB import levy  Umbrella body of indigenous carriers : Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, for the timely suspension of the four percent  Free on Board (FOB) levy earlier introduced on imports. In a statement, the local airlines' body described the  suspension as a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, protecting critical sectors of the economy, and promoting sustainable growth.  The levy, if implemented, the AON said  would have had severe consequences for airlines in Nigeria, leading to higher operating costs, further straining an industry already contending with multiple economic challenges.
