Federal government sets up committe to explore revenue potential at airports Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo has set up a committee to explore the revenue potential at the nation’s airports. The Minister took this decision after a facility tour of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where he pointed out areas and avenues that could be harnessed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to boost its revenue profile. Having received briefing from the FAAN Management, the Minister directed that a committee be set up to explore the revenue potential at the local wing of the Lagos airport and other airports in the country. The committee will be chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr Emmanuel Meribole. Falana Calls for Suspension of BA, Virgin Atlantic Flights to Nigeria Human rights lawyer , Femi Falana (SAN) has called for the suspension of flight operations into Nigeria by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic until such a time when Nigeria's Air Peace is allowed to also fly on the Lagos-London route in accordance with the provisions of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement(BASA) signed by Nigeria and United Kingdom. He made the comments at the just concluded Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) Conference in Abuja. Falana stated that BASA allows for reciprocity of flight operations on the route by designated airlines of both countries in line with the agreement signed by both countries and that it was out of place and unfair for British Airways and Virgin Atlantic to be allowed to continue flying into Nigeria without any Nigerian airline flying to London in return.   NEXIM Bank to lift  air cargo export with financial instrument  In a bid to increase the volume of agro-produce export within Nigeria and to other international markets, the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, NEXIM, has pledged to assist Nigerian agro-exporters in facilitating the processes of export by providing the needed financial instrument. Managing Director, NEXIM  Bank, Abba Bello made the pledge during a visit of the Aviacargo Cargo Committee to the bank’s headquarters on  in Abuja. He said it is heartbreaking to note that foreign airlines that fly into the country with cargo still depart empty while there are abundant products that could be exported from Nigeria.
