No plan to operate UAE flights from  Port Harcourt -Air Peace West Africa’s biggest carrier, Air Peace on Tuesday dismissed reports that it plans to originate its flights to Sharjah and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. A statement signed by the carrier’s Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah said it had not altered its plan to commence its Sharjah and Dubai services from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The Lagos airport, the airline insisted, was strategic to the launch of its international flight operations. NCAA urges telecoms operator to offset outstanding payments  All telecom operators who are yet to remit their outstanding payments to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have been advised to do so without further delay. This advice was given by the Director General, Capt. Muhtar Usman during a meeting with the Association of Licensed Telecommunications operators of Nigeria (ALTON). Under the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (Establishment) Act, Section 7(1) , the authority said it is empowered to prohibit and regulate the installation of any structure which by virtue of its height or position is considered to endanger the safety of air navigation. The said according to that  provision, the Regulatory Authority requires an Aviation Height Clearance (AHC) approval for every highrise structure, mast, tower  installation, irrespective of the height and location. MMIA congestion : FAAN urges airlines to use other airport terminals  In a bid to reduce the congestion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is encouraging air travellers and airlines to divert some of their traffic to airports outside Lagos especially the newly constructed terminals. The airport manager also said  the diversion of traffic from Lagos would help in putting the newly commissioned terminals in Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), Omegwa and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja to maximum use. To this end, Turkish Airlines and Emirates have indicated their readiness to commence scheduled flight operations from PHIA and NAIA, respectively from June, while Air Peace would also begin direct flight to Dubai from PHIA as from April this year.
