ATSSSAN gives conditions for take of Nigeria Air  .........Plans show down with Federal Government over airports concession  By Kelvin Osa Okunbor The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has given fresh conditions that the Federal Government must meet before it goes ahead with the commencement of the new national carrier - Nigeria Air. The aviation union said it could not guarantee the take of the take of the carrier unless the severance entitlements of ex- workers of Nigeria Airways Limited are paid. Rising from its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja , ATSSSAN said it mobilise against the project until Federal Government releases the N45 billion meant for the payment of ex- workers and pensioners of the liquidated former national carrier. ATSSSAN gives conditions for take off of Nigeria Air .......Cautions Federal Government on planned airports concession  RISING  from deliberations of a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria ( ATSSSAN) has resolved that it will not guaranty a place for the new national carrier ‘Nigeria Air’ if the Severance Entitlements Settlement of ex-workers of the liquidated former national carrier, Nigeria Airways is not met. This is just as it said that Federal Government’ s planned concession the four (4) major International Airports will compromise safety, increase charges and increase liabilities and has insisted that it is not in support of the move and cannot guaranty peace if the plan is foisted on them. NiMet, ANAP  end industrial feud on conditions of service AFTER  months of confrontation  between the management of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and aviation  unions on  unacceptable conditions of services, both parties have reached an agreement on the matter. NiMET management and the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) have agreed to set up an urgent committee, comprising  all Trade unions and management staff of the agency to look at all the grey areas concerning staff working condition with a view to upgrading them into an acceptable agreement within three weeks. Ethiopian Airlines unveils privatization plans

Ethiopian Airlines unveils privatization plans  Ethiopian Airlines should be co-owned by African governments, its Group chief executive Mr Tewolde Gebremariam has said. Gebremariam has the co- ownership proposal has become imperative because of recent move by government to privatize the Ethiopian national carrier. Speaking in an interview in Addis he said it would be good if African countries including Nigeria had shares in the airline. The Ethiopian government he said is seeking to open up its economy by selling a stake in some of its state-run enterprises , including the airline. He however, cautioned that in the liberalisation strategy, Ethiopian Airlines should not be "treated like other state enterprises set for privatisation. West link Airlines boss gets award

West link Airlines  boss gets award Chief Executive Officer of West Link Airlines , Captain Ibrahim Mselia has been given an award  by the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), for his outstanding contribution to the development of aviation in Nigeria. The award was given at NAAPE's recent event in Lagos , where it inaugurated a compendium of 50 outstanding pilots and engineers. Mshelia, a Nigerian pilot is the first individual  to privately establish and fund a  pilot training school  in the Sub Saharan Africa in Ghana. The pilots training college :  Mish Aviation ;  has graduated  dozens of aircraft pilots.
