Dignitaries shut down Lagos to honour Air Peace boss at wedding anniversary Air Peace Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman, Mr. Allen and Mrs. Alice Onyema on Saturday marked their 25th wedding anniversary in grand style, with top Nigerians and foreigners pouring in from within and outside Lagos to grace the night of fun, love and music.    The silver jubilee celebration  held  a day after Air Peace took delivery of its newly acquired Boeing B777-200 aircraft, becoming the first and only Nigerian airline to procure and register the brand of airliner in the country. Air Peace Chairman celebrates 25 years wedding anniversary  It was a gathering of royalty and class at the weekend when the Chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema celebrated his 25 of marital bliss with his wife, Mrs Alice Onyema. Prominent Nigerians including first class traditional rulers , a  state governor, senators, the clergy and joined the couple to celebrate the blessings of God. Among the dignitaries at the event, which held at the Harbour Event Centre, Victoria Island included Anambra State Governor, Chief Obiano, his predecessor , Mr Peter Obi, former Secretary General of CommonWealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Ayaounku, Ooni of Ife and the Obi of Onitsha. NAMA EMBARKS ON ROUTINE CALIBRATION OF NAVIGATIONAL AIDS  In a bid to further ensure accuracy and reliability of its facilities across the country, the Nigerian Airspace Management agency (NAMA) has embarked on the routine calibration of navigational aids at airports and en-route stations across Nigeria.  The flight calibration which is being handled by Omni-Blue Aviation Ltd along with their technical partners, Fight Calibration Services Ltd (FCSL) of United Kingdom in collaboration with NAMA engineers will involve the calibration of the agency’s Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Very High Omni-Directional Radio Range (VOR), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Path Approach Precision Indicators (PAPI) and Communication Radio Coverage across the nation.  The exercise will also involve the flight commissioning of a newly installed Instrument Landing System and Distance Measuring Equipment.    Commenting on the calibration exercise, the Chie...

NAMA MOVES TO ENHANCE UPPER AIRSPACE COMMUNICATION   In line with its commitment towards improving quality of air traffic services in the country,  the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has concluded arrangements for the deployment of four stand-alone JOTRON high-powered, Very High Frequency (VHF) long range communication radios, each to be installed in  Lagos West and Lagos East as well as Kano West and Kano East Area Control Centres (ACCs).  Towards this end, the agency  has conducted a successful inspection and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the equipment in Norway.  The exercise included physical inspection of the facilities and their technical specifications vis a vis the scope given by the agency. Air Peace sets new record as B777 aircraft arrives  Air Peace has  set a new record with the arrival of its newly acquired Boeing B777-200 aircraft, becoming the first and only Nigerian airline to procure and register the brand of airliner in the country. The development is coming weeks after the airline took delivery of two Embraer 145 aircraft on January 31 and February 9 respectively and made history with the setting up a subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper to organise its short-haul operations in line with its no-city-left-behind project. The 274-capacity aircraft, which t ouched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 3.45 pm on Friday, is the first of two Boeing 777 airliners Air Peace recently acquired in preparation for its Dubai, Sharjah, London, Guangzhou-China, Houston, Mumbai and Johannesburg services. The airline is finalising talks to add two more B777...

Turkish Airlines begins  flights to Freetown  as  52nd destination  in Africa   Turkish Airlines said it is  flying to more destinations in Africa as it  marks another milestone in its international expansion with the launch of flights to Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.  With existing services to city–hubs of Accra, Lagos, Bamako, Conakry, Dakar, Abidjan, Cotonou, Douala, Yaounde, N’Djamena, Ougadougou, Niamey, Cape Town, Johannesburg and more, Turkish Airlines will  add flights to Freetown as its 52nd destination in Africa.
