Again, nahco bags NIGAV Award Nigeria’s leading ground handling company, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc, nahco aviance, has again confirmed its leadership position in the industry by clinching the Airport Ground Handling Special Achievement Award at the 2017 Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Awards, held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, over the weekend. Emirates named ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2018 Air Transport Awards  Emirates Airline has been named ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2018 Air Transport Awards. Emirates won the prestigious accolade based the evaluation from a jury comprised of executives and experts from different sectors within the aviation industry. Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Emirates received the award on behalf of the airline. EASTER CELEBRATION; FAAN ASSURES OF SAFETY As Easter holiday approaches, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has assured passengers and other airport users that her network of airports are fully prepared and ready for the usual upsurge in passenger traffic that is the norm around this season. In a statement released at the Authority's headquarters in Lagos, FAAN noted that all necessary facilities, infrastructure and manpower to ensure seamless facilitation at the airports have been deployed. Assuring passengers of safety and security, the Authority added that relevant security agencies have been mobilized to beef up security at all airports.  The Authority advised passengers to endeavour to leave for the airport early enough, so as to ensure that check in formalities are conducted in good time.

Arik Air wins Best Air Crew of The Year 2017 award Arik Air, Nigeria’s leading airline has been honoured with the prestigious Nigerian Aviation (NIGAV) Awards for the Best Air Crew of The Year 2017 Domestic route.  The award which was presented to the airline at a well-attended ceremony held at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday, March 24, 2018 was given in recognition of the airline’s strict adherence to international standards for both cockpit crew and cabin crew. Part of the criteria used by the organizers to pick the best crew were comportment, uniform, customer service and professionalism. MMA 2 clinches best airport terminal award

MMA 2 clinches  best airport terminal award    For the second year running, the first privately-funded airport in the country, the Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2), operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), a member of the Resort Group, has clinched the Most Functional Terminal of the Year 2017 Award organised by the Nigerian Aviation (NIGAV) Awards, the industry’s watchdog. Aviation unions threaten to shut airspace

Unions threaten to shut airspace over failure to pay Ex - Airways staff N45b severance benefit           The failure of the Federal Government to pay the N45bn final severance packages to about  6,000 workers of the former workers of Nigeria Airways Limited (NAL) may spell doom for it as the industry.  Aviation unions have threatened to shut down the airspace in the next two weeks. The industry unions are  also peeved by the insensitivity of the Ministry of Finance to pay the workers over 10 months after the approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Aviation security personnel set to bear fire arms at airports           The Minister of State, Aviation , Hadi Sirika says Aviation security ( AVSEC)  personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)  will soon be licensed to carry arms at airports across the country in other to complement other agencies in respect of  security threat.  Sirika who made this known in Katsina at the 2018 AVSEC retreat said discussion was at its final stage for approval saying it will further strengthen the integrity of the airports in view of the growing threats to the aviation industry.   He said : " The Federal government approved for AVSEC personnel  to bear arms which is a notable achievement in this administration's effort at improving the general safety of its citizenry and passengers passing through our airports ." Arewa, Oodua, IPOB youths hail Air Peace boss over US training Arewa, Oodua and Indigenous  People of Biafra (IPOB) youths have commended the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema for spending about N.3 billion on their two-part nonviolence and peace training in Lagos and the United States of America, describing him as God’s gift to Nigeria.
